ID Hockey Programme 2023/24: Avoca All Stars

After a successful pilot last year, we now have a season long programme for children and young adults (aged 12 and over) with Intellectual Disabilities (ID). The programme is mixed gender and free but participants must be registered with Hockey Ireland. . Hockey sticks are provided but players must bring a gum shield and shin guards. New for 2022/23 season.

An invitation to join our ID Hockey team at Avoca HC

As part of Hockey Irelands Hockey4all initiative Avoca HC are pleased to introduce a hockey programme open to children and young adults with intellectual disabilities aged 10-24. We will begin with a 5 week introduction to hockey at Newpark School between 6-7pm on Thursdays from September 22nd– October 19th. This intro will be free to all participants and hockey sticks will be provided but participants must bring a gum shield and shin guards. Please click here to join.

All players who join our newest team, called the Avoca All Stars, will continue to have weekly coaching sessions in 5/6 week blocks from November until May 2023.  During the year we hope to engage with the vibrant ID hockey community already established in Leinster. A big shout out to our friends in sport; Monkstown Strikers, Railway Union Railblazers, Loreto Lions, Wicklow Vikings, Botanic Blitzers and Three Rock Rockets.
