U16 Boys

Trevor Dagg’s U16 boy’s team, who currently sit top of the Leinster league, face a crucial quarter final cup battle against YMCA tonight at 7pm in Wesley – all support welcome from Avoca members on the night!

The lads are a pleasure to watch, so it promises to be a good match.

U16s Monkstown Win

A week after their disappointing 4-1 defeat against YMCA, Trevor Dagg’s U16 team returned to indomitable form on Sunday afternoon in Newpark with a league win over Monkstown. Joseph Dewerdt fired a cracker of a goal midway through the game to put Avoca 1-0 up. The team worked hard to withstand the pressure – helped by some goalkeeping heroics from Oskar Nielsen – to finish with a win. It was an impressive display of determination and force – well done to the whole team.

Irish JAG Camp

Over the weekend, Trevor Dagg and his team put together a skills camp to raise money for the Irish U18 hockey squad who are self-funding their trip to compete in the 8 Nations in Germany. The day went really well and was well attended by kids from all around Dublin.

If you would like to contribute to the team’s fundraising, then check out their page here.

Junior Jacqui Potter Cup

The U16 A girls put in a brilliant performance vs Railway to come away with a 2-1 win in the Junior Jacqui Potter Cup last night!

Avoca went 1-0 up in the 3rd quarter when Isobel Field smashed home on her backhand from the team’s first and only penalty corner of the match. In quarter 4, they added a 2nd goal from a blistering counter attack, finished off by Amelia Nolan. With 5 minutes to go, Railway got one back to make it 2-1 and force an exciting final few minutes. Avoca held out for the win though and put themselves through to the quarter finals!

The remaining matches are completed tomorrow and we keenly look forward to the draw for the next round.
